Overview SmartIPS is a IPS/IPS2-Creator/Applier for Windows 95/NT and was intended to be used especially with big N64-Images, though it can be used with any other program/image which needs to be IPS-Patched. Besides RTOOL still has some problems with certain IPS-Patches, it was also not able to create any. On the other hand, there was no IPS-Patch-Creator we really liked, so Hartec decided to code a combo of both. The Result is the most easy to use IPS-Patcher ever created. Everyone who knows how to enter a filename should be able to use it. Quickstart a) How to patch an existing Image with an .IPS-Patch: 1. Start SmartIPS 2. Enter Name of the original File or select it by using the Button. 3. Enter Name of the .IPS-File or select it by using the Button. 4. Click APPLY-Button or press right mouse button and select APPLY. b) How to create an IPS-Patch out of two exisiting Images: 1. Start SmartIPS 2. Enter Name of the original File or select it by using the Button. 3. Enter Name of the modified/patched File or select it by using the Button. 4. Enter a funny name for your .IPS-File you want to create or select it by using the Button. 5. Optional you can enter a Name for an UNDO-.IPS-File by checking the Box and entering the name. This .IPS-File can be used on the Patched Rom which will be re-modified then to the original unharmed Image. 6. Click CREATE-Button or press right mouse button and select CREATE. Note that SmartIPS will recognize different Image-Sizes and asks whether it shall byte-strip the larger image or not. This comes handy when you have two images who actually have a real size of 96Mbit but for some reason one of the images has been released unstripped as 128Mbit. And as that would not be enough, SmartIPS also asks if you want to have the Size-Stripping-Procedure in your created .IPS-File included. III. Version History v1.1 : Removed a *VERY* stupid bug in the RLE decoding causing the yoshi us crack not to be applied correctly. Also another bug was found wich did creat patch data if the altered data is directly at the end of the file. v1.0 : First release. Supporting IPS patching and createing. VI.
